Home Care Packages

How to get a Home Care Package

A Home Care Package is Australian Government funding that helps older people stay at home. There are four levels depending on assessed need.

  1. Step 1: Contact My Aged Care

Call 1800 200 422 or apply online for an assessment. We can talk you through what to expect.

  2. Step 2: Get assessed

An assessor visits and works out what level of support you need. Be honest about bad days, not just good ones.

  3. Step 3: Receive your package

You are assigned a package level and can choose any approved provider — including us.

  4. Step 4: Start support

We build a plan with you and match you with a consistent local carer.

You do not need a package to use us

Assessment and waiting times can be long. We also support privately paying clients, so you can start getting help now and switch to package funding when it comes through.

Ask us about our fees before you commit — including what proportion goes to administration. It is a fair question and every provider should answer it plainly.

Common questions

Aged care questions

How do I get started with Sewa Care?

Call us, email us or fill in the referral form on this site. We respond quickly — often the same day. From there we arrange a free, no-obligation consultation to talk through what you need, then match you with a support worker. Most new clients have support in place within 24 to 48 hours.

Is there a cost for the first consultation?

No. The initial consultation is free and carries no obligation. We will talk through your needs and your funding, and if we are not the right provider for you we will say so.

Do I need a referral from a doctor or support coordinator?

No. Participants and family members can contact us directly. Support coordinators, plan managers, LACs and allied health professionals are also welcome to refer — the referral form on our contact page has fields for exactly that.

What types of funding do you accept?

NDIS funding of all three management types (agency-managed, plan-managed and self-managed), Home Care Packages, and private paying clients. If you are unsure what you are eligible for, ask us and we will point you in the right direction.

Does the NDIS cover transport?

Often, yes, but it depends on how your plan is written. Transport funding appears in plans in several different ways. Send us your plan details and we will tell you what we believe is claimable before you commit to anything.

Is there a lock-in contract?

No. There are no lock-in contracts and no minimum terms. Support is flexible and adapts to your plan, your family's schedule and your changing needs. If you want to stop or change your support, tell us.

What is a Home Care Package and do I need one?

A Home Care Package is Australian Government funding that helps older people stay living at home. There are four levels depending on assessed need. You do not need one to use our services — we also support private paying clients — but if you think you may be eligible, start with My Aged Care and we can help you understand the process.
