Social & Community Participation

Activities, outings and one-to-one support that keep participants connected, confident and engaged in their local community. Because a support plan that only covers washing and eating is not much of a life.

Isolation does real damage. It shows up as declining health, low mood and a world that gets smaller every month.

Community participation support is the counterweight. It is practical help to keep doing the things that make life worth living — and to start again with the ones that have quietly stopped.

Built around what you like

There is no fixed programme. We start with what you actually enjoy or used to enjoy, then work out what stands in the way — transport, confidence, mobility, or simply not wanting to walk in alone the first time.

Towards independence, not away from it

Where you want it to, support steps back over time. If you would rather keep one-to-one company indefinitely, that is a legitimate choice too. Both are supported.

Common questions

Social & Community Participation — FAQs

What sort of activities can you support?

Whatever matters to you — a bowls club, the gym, church, a men's shed, a craft group, the beach, a regular coffee. The goal is your life, not a programme we run.

Is this just a support worker sitting with me?

No. Good community support works towards you needing less of it. Where you want to, we build the confidence and routines that let you do things independently.

Can this be combined with transport?

Yes, and usually it should be. Most community participation involves getting somewhere first — we plan the two together so it is one arrangement rather than two.
